Back on the saddle...

First off, thanks for all the support and great advice I've been getting over the the future of my blogging. I'm taking it all in.

This weekend is the NYC marathon. I'm not too pumped about it, at least not yet, although I want to be. Maybe the race expo will get me in the mood.

At least I've been carbo-loading and find the "hops" seem to be making my legs stronger. Seriously, no joke.

Yesterday's run was one of my best in a long while and today I went for my first ride since returning from Kona.

It was a nice day, around 10 C and I'm not sure if I needed them, but I wore my "booties" just in case. I had a better than decent ride and I'm starting to become convinced of "the power of recovery".

It's amazing how fast you can mentally get out of the training groove. On the bike, for at least half the ride I couldn't get in the "enjoy the moment" mindset that came so naturally to me during regular training.

There is nothing like a ride to clear my head. I came back from the ride feeling 100% better than when I left. The problems and struggles I felt before the ride didn't seem so big afterwards.

It was also the first time I rode with my "Ironman World Championships" cycling shorts. I must say it feels pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty good wearing those puppies.

When I got home, there was a delivered package waiting for me. It was my "LIVE YOURSELF TO DEATH" tee-shirt and FREE business cards from Vista Print. Just in time for NYC.

My plan is to use the cards when I'm out training and meet people. If we hit it off and the want to get together to train or party, I'm going to give them my card.

What a cheap shot. You canadians never play fair! Did you watch him smack her ass in the video when he hugged her. That a boy!!!

Yeah, you don't have the build up for this race you usually do man. Play it safe, don't get hurt out there. Your body may be telling you to take a fucking break already... just saying, I don't know anyone who has accomplished what you have in a year, let alone a lifetime. Take a few months off, get fat, enjoy it, then get back at it man.

I am on my second tub of cookie dough in a week. The funny thing, I am losing weight... this is encouraging!

Love the cards and shirt. Great idea on meeting people. I wish I could see their faces as they receive your "business" cards. Little do they know, drinking beer is your business!

I can't wait for your next post as to how many prank phone calls you got since you publicly posted your phone number on the internet... this may be one of your more finer moments with that picture haha!

Good luck this weekend buddy. Have fun and have one hell of an after party. You have earned it.

I heard ART will be waiting for you at the finish line.

LOVE the card, that's awesome. I'm still plotting how I get to go see you 'talk' to the tri group next week.

That video was one of my favourite moments from the Olympics but you made me fucking cry again, well at least I wasn't crying about YOU this time.

Have some fun this weekend.

Love the "business" cards.

Although Matty makes a good point about sharing your phone number with the world. Who wants to take turns calling at 3 in the morning for a week straight??

I hope you had a fun day today. Now go give your body a break, would ya?? AND great point about how easy it is to get out of the training groove.

LOVE the shirt, and giving out the cards is hilarious. Seriously hilarious!

Holy crap, when Matty O talks about eating tubs of cookie dough he isn't kidding, I didn't even know it came in tubs.

I am still trying to see how NYC went for you but the thing won't load...sigh...OH I will check twitter.
