Personally, I like blogging, I enjoy the benefits I get from blogging and after posting virtually everyday for the last 3 years, it hurts to think of it not being part of my day.
The problem is I'm an all or nothing person, I'd rather post daily or shut down the blog completely.
I'm glad I let everyone know "not to expect daily blog posts", yet I don't want to become disconnected from the great group of people I've met and will meet through the blog.
During today's run I thought, maybe I can "do it all" if I write the blog differently. Maybe shorter posts, less of a daily diary, more on a specific element or challenge I'm dealing with. Perhaps more photos and video? Or turning off or not responding to comments? Or setting a fixed amount of time to blog and not exceed it? Or not proof reading it as closely? I don't know.
I just know I'm having "anti-blogging shakes" and as much as I know I need to free up the time I spend blogging, it doesn't feel natural to not blog regularly and stay connected with my blog buddies.
I had a lengthy discussion with Alice about it last night and she doesn't know what I should do, ultimately it's my decision.
She was happy when she heard I was thinking of not posting regularly, she's a very private person and has felt that others know too much about our life and that realizing the Kona dream is a natural ending to the blog.
In a weird way I want to stop blogging, I'm curious to see how my life would feel in cutting off the connection I've had to the blogger-sphere for the last three years, to go back to being a private person. Maybe I stop for a month and see how it feels?
Do I continue to blog regularly until the end of November, albeit shorter and perhaps differently or not feeling guilty if I miss a day or two and even then I'm not sure.
Waiting until the end of November would complete the full year of posts and in that time it would give me more time to be certain and at peace about my final decision.
I still don't know what to do? I'm not even sure if I should have posted this post or let it go and stayed with my plan to start the next phase of my life Journey.
What would you do if you were me?

Who says you've gotta post daily? I used to, and certainly don't now. Life gets busy, and priorities need to change.
Post what you can, when you can, and most importantly, when you want to.
It's like golf. I love golf. I used to play it all the time. But now I'm too busy to play golf as often as I used to. Doesn't mean I don't golf anymore, just not as much.
And if you need a GOOD example of how not to blog each day, just visit my blog. ;)
want my two cents? (shut up, yes you do). Welcome to everyone else's life sir. Putting in a full 8 hours AND training is a little bit more challenging huh?! Add to it the time involved in throwing a post together and trying to reply to comments... not enough hours in the day.
I say you stop being a cry baby and SIU brybaby.
We paid good money to support your lifestyle and have YOU entertain US!
You are not fulfilling your contractual obligations to us. Just saying.
On another note. Awesome beer count buddy.
Looks like I need to find a new person to harass and make fun of daily now, so sad.
I’m not sure how you do your blogging, but I write mine out on MS Word first and that helps cut down time on the proof reading. I then just cut and paste it right into the blog. You probably don’t need to respond to the comments – you are one of the few who does. Probably the best bet for your personality type would be to set a time limit and not exceed it. But no matter what you decide make sure its best for you. I know I’ll keep tuning in because you’re so funny and crazy but so completely disciplined – a total oxymoron.
I don’t blog every day, but I read and make comments when I can. I don’t have the time – because in addition to working full time and training, I have to do all the stuff your wife does too :-)
B
Before I give you my 2cents, a question
If you stop blogging, will you still read other people's blog and if will you comment on them??????????????
If not, you will lose many friends and get disconnected from a whole network of great friends. if you decide to read others, you mind as well blog
my thoughts: Blog if you want, when you want. Don't have to be everyday. i work from 7h45am to 17h30 every day and it takes me 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour at night to travel to and from work.
add to that the 15-20hrs of training a week and then family time.
Work it out!
That's why I can't blog everyday, although I would love to.
I blog when I have a spare night or when I can fit it into my schedule. I can't blog twice a week and tell you ALL that hapened in my life as the post would be pages.
I blog about the things I think will benefit my readers and what I feel is important for them to know.
Don't let blogging rule your life.
Ps: if you decide to stop blogging who will keep the keg full?
As I always say and believe in: Have fun and if you don't stop doing it.
If you like it and have fun blogging, why stop!
What Matty said.. and Johan.. or just stop thinking about it so dang much. If you have something interesting to say post.. I love that you comment back to your commenters, I try to do the same. Too many times comments get lost in oblivion.
I have to say I'm not sure how I would survive the blog world without you around.
You say you are all or nothing but a person can change!! So blog a couple of times a week and see how you feel about it.
does this work?
Sorry, tried to post yesterday and didn't work hence post above! I love your blog and have followed everyday for about 6 months! I have 2 toddlers so just don;t have much spare time but did 3 sprint tri's this year and at times your my inspiration so i have enjoyed your blogs immensely... i don't think you should stop daily blogging but you don't really have the time? MAybe shorter blogs so a start that way you're still connected?
By the way i'm in Dublin Ireland, not sure if you know any Irish people! You'd fit in here!
Adena, the problem with your comment is that if we wait for Bryan to have something interesting to say... he will never post again. HAHA.
Bryan, at least give us a NYC marathon race report. Then figure it out.
I agree with the comments the other day though that you really jerked us around by supporting the TPPF and now are getting ripped off!
Maybe up the dues and have a private blog that only supporters can view hahaha (just because you have only made $1 an hour blogging doesn't mean you are an internet marketing genious. I would say you have some pretty low ROI there chief).
I can't say that I would miss the blog, but I would miss the comments. So, please, Bryan, for the sake of the comments, please keep up the blog in some way, shape or form. If all you post is "I'm too busy to write anything" it will still be enough to have an open forum between Matty, Johan, Simon, etc.
(I'm kidding about missing the blog. I'd miss it a little bit ;) )
Bryan, time is your enemy as you have said many times. Blogging for me is therapeutic as it is for you. I believe anything that is therapeutic and good for you, you keep doing. Maybe goto a three posts a week schedule. Friday, to talk about your weekend plans, Monday to talk about what really happened over the weekend. Then Wednesday for weekday stuff. Might be a start...
Do what is comfortable for you. Whatever you choose you better do it at 100%
Your friends will always be available to have a 'SIU Bry' talk outside of the blogsphere.
That's all, I'm going for a beer- You coming or what?
B., is this another way for you to tell us that you want more money to be donated to TPPF? You are learning about all that Internet Marketing crap and you are testing it now on us. You asked us nicely to donate, then you begged us and now you are threatening us to donate. What's is next? Blackmail us? Ha-ha.
I can't say that it's not working. I admit that am willing to pay a monthly subscription to TPPF, if that's what it takes for you to continue blogging. Reading your blog is way better than reading any magazine/newspaper I've subscribed to so far. If you are going to make us pay a monthly subscription I want a big discount because it was my idea. Ha-ha.
Doru - read up 4 comments, MY IDEA FIRST! I GET THE DISCOUNTS!
Guilty. I haven't read all the comments before I posted mine.
OK, Matty, considering that I came up with the same idea independently, it is only fair to split the discounts between us. Ha-ha.
blah blah blah blah. Your blog has no soul now. The journey to Kona was epic and well documented, thanks for that!
However, it's like an athlete training but with no goal. The blog now reads blah blah blah blah blah with no clear endgame.
Wrap up the Kona journey with your fatman story post and start a new blog all together with a clear EPIC endgame. I'm thinking double Ironman or something equally as epic. You can do it.
I dont care that you're running a marathon now. Fat old ladies finish marathons. Challenge yourself you pussy!
Now your blog is just a monotone bore of day to day mediocracy. I don't read it, I just skim over it.
You don't owe your readers anything. Ok, except the poor bastards to contributed to TPPF lol (suckers). So do what you will. We've all benefited in some way from this blog, either humour or inspiration/motivation, so if your connections with blog-buddies disappears because you post less, they weren't much of a buddy to begin with.
Go big or go home.
:) That post John... that just made my day.
And I quote, "Fat old ladies finish marathons" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
phew, catching my breath over here. Comment of the year nomination I think.
Bryan, I can certainly understand your dilemma. Our lives do change and move in different directions. I certainly don't see you as a private person, you are too engaged with everyone around you from best friend to a stranger that you meet in Vegas. I guess I would say, that you will find your comfort zone and one that works for you. Will it be different in management than right now, it sounds like it most definitely will. Take it one day at a time and see which niche you fall into, there you will find your peace.
Jp, out of curiousity, have YOU ever done a marathon? Haha
B
haha LOVE the comments, see THIS is one of the reasons you can't stop blogging.
I paid what I considered to be an annual fee so you have to at least blog until the year is up.
B-I can't do it every day either, sometimes 2x a week is tough for me.
I get the all or nothing thing, but maybe take some time off and go for a once a week recap or something?
I hope you at least stick around to keep giving Matty O $hit, I am pretty sure that is one of my favorite parts of your blog, the comments.
I can't figure out how you did at NYC stupid computer. I know you did great though.
Due, I blog when I have time, I aim for 5 days a week and don't usually bother at weekends - too many other things to do, but then somedays I'll post 4 or 5 things.
That way it doesn't rule my life and I don't feel bad about missing a few posts here or there.
C, Thanks for the advice. Very true.
M, haha, thanks for the advice. I didn't realize I was signing up to be a "dancing monkey" when I started asking for money. hahaha. Thanks for noticing on the beer count, I'm amazed I'm only up 5-7 lbs. Must be sckewed from the dehydration. haha. A good person to harrass, you definitely needs a good puck to the head is John Proc. hahahaha. Consider him a solid replacement. haha.
MFI, haha, thanks for the advice and keen observation. I never thought of being that way, but it is true. haha. Sounds like you need a wife. haha.
J, yes, I'd keep reading blogs, commenting and twittering. Thanks for the post, lots of words of wisdom in there. If I stop blogging, I'll probably have to get Alice a part time job to pay for it. hahaha.
A, thank for your input. Lots to think about.
K, no it doesn't work. haha
K, thanks for the post and congrats on the three tri's this year. Lots to think about. It definitely sounds like moving to Ireland might be a good move. haha.
M, hahahahaha. I will for sure give you the NYC race report, no question. What do you mean making $1 per hour is not an internet genius. I've now made enough $1's that I can retire to Malaysia and never have to work again, just like Simon. hahaha. If you'd like a refund, please call our customer service department at 1.800.Eat.Shit. hahahaha. I drank and smoked it all already. haha.
IBT, haha, yeah the comments ARE great. Glad you like the blog a little bit. haha.
C, thanks for the input and ideas. Definitely good.
I, thanks for the comment, I LOVE YOU MAN!!! Definitely the next time I'm in Toronto, were hooking up. Unfortunately, my bike gear problem worked it's way out on last weeks ride. I did nothing and it fixed itself, like the terminator.
D, no that's not it, but you can NEVER have TOO much money or good looks. haha. Hey Blackmail, now that's a great idea. haha.
On the TPPF you are the man and the next time your at my house, you'll get much more than you contributed in beer dollars. haha. If I charge and you bring in 3 friends, your subscriptions free. hahaha.
M, you too, I'll give you the FREE for 3 discount. haha
D, don't give him the satisfaciton of being right. haha
JP, your comments always entertain me as the hair stands up on the back of my neck. hahahaha.
I have to say you're off base on the marathon comment, you have to do one to understand one missy. haha.
I wish you could write more directly and tell me how you really feel. haha.
M, don't encourage him. haha.
T, thanks for the words, very, very insightful. Thanks.
A, as per above, pls call my 1.800 number for a refund. hahaha.
M, don't worry, I'll still stay around to give M-O a bad time, one way or another. haha.
S, thanks, and I love those quirkly things you post and not having your secretaries watch you watching questionable subject matter makes me laugh and makes it all worthwhile.
