Blog future...

As many of you know, I'm refocusing myself and trying to spend more time on career while maintaining my training and triathlon lifestyle.

I've been keeping track of the hours I spend on tasks and I'm finding that I can't fit it all in and I'm not even training much right now. I can only imagine how pressed for time I'm going to be when Ironman training gets in full swing.

Writing the blog, reading others blogs and tweeting takes up at least 2 hours a day of my time, sometimes more. Writing a blog in a drunken haze on a Saturday morning to catch up on Friday's post definitely takes much longer.

Since starting the blog on November 12, 2007, this is my 1031 post. Other than a brief period after Ironman Louisville, when I thought the blog was over, I haven't missed a day of blogging in all that time.

I'm most proud of the two 400 page books I have to show for it. Every year I use Blurbs book building software to "slurp" all my blog posts and then lay them all out in a book format. At the end of this month, I'll be putting together my third book. The posts have grown significantly in length over the years and I wouldn't be surprised if I need two volumes for this years book.

Writing the blog has been great for me on so many levels. It's kept me honest and focused on my training, it's helped me learn about technology, and the highlight has been all the wonderful people I've met through the blog. Some I've inspired, and many have inspired me.

Unfortunately, due to time constraints, I've come to the conclusion that I can no longer blog daily. I'm still hoping to blog, I just don't know when or how comprehensive of posts I'll write. I've decided to let it all evolve naturally into a new pattern.

For those blog readers that look forward to reading my blog post over morning coffee, (aka Doru), or before you go ni-night, (aka John Barclay), I apologize for forcing you to alter your routine. It's just that with a changed focus, priorities shift, and the 12 to 18 hours a week I spend blogging have to be spent elsewhere.

On the training front, I bought another Keg of beer. This keg is dedicated to Al Nolan for his $201 donation. Oh, and I didn't run today.

I planned on running and then got caught up expanding my home network, solving a technical issue and working. Before I knew it, it was dark and cold outside and I instead of going for a run, I decided to drive to Hamilton to pick up a new Keg of beer.

After the new keg was "tapped", Alice and I went downstairs to "The Pig & Whistle". She had her Rum & Diet Coke and I had my beers and cigars and we watched a documentary about the beer industry, followed by the movie "Weird Science", all on my $7.95 per month Netflix. (I'm getting so close to "dumping" Cogeco cable).

I'm also looking forward to getting the NYC Marathon over with and getting back into a structured off-season training maintenance program. I really need it for my mental and physical health right now.

Today I was starting to feel fat, I'm bloated and my pants felt tight on me. It's a terrible feeling and it didn't take me long to start "romanticising" about those 7 hour bike rides followed by a 30 minute brick run. As sick as this sounds, I miss how I would feel after those workouts and I'm looking forward to doing them again next year.

I attached a video just for Simon. Recently in his blog posts he's been worried about what the Malaysian kids are eating for lunch and how they are getting fat. Take a look at the video, I think Malaysia has other priorities they need to focus on when it comes to kids.

Great post Bryan and we will miss your daily blog, but I can completely understand organizing time and priorities. I too feel much the same, that I need to pull myself in tight and not just think about stuff that needs to be done in my life, but stand up an make it happen. So I admire you. The smoking baby, blew my mind.

HAHA, I guess this is a good thing. You will save my employer about $50 a day for me farting around reading your blog and shooting pucks at your head. The question isn't what are you going to do with your free time now... its what the hell am I going to do??? Work?!

I feel the same as you with blogging, I love the comments though so I keep putting myself out there.

You feel fat right now because you are fat. Sounds like its been a month since your last "whhhhaaaaa I feel fat" post. Must be retaining water again, getting C cups up top yet?

PFG story before jumping out of the blogging realm?

Good luck this weekend. Run smart dude.

As you know this blog was the first I stumbled on while trying to search online and figure out how people gained entry into IMLP. What a stroke of luck for me!!! As I backtracked and re-read a lot of this blog I was most interested in how you were able to flow all the entries into a book.

This is the only reason I started my blog.

Since I started my blog I have experienced the same benefit: it has kept me honest and much more focused on my training. And I have learned SO much about training and racing from you and also everyone else I now follow. Its been extremely valuable and super inspirational!

My original goal was to follow your lead and do a daily entry. I cant F'n believe you did it for as long as you did! I already find myself allowing passes for non-blog entry days if I am too tired or just dont feel like it. I am excited to keep with it best I can and do a book. Thanks for publishing your experience for all of us!!!

Enjoy NYC this weekend! What a city and what a marathon Im super envioous.

I feel like Im missing something here...no "pucks to the head" but nothing is coming to mind....haha

Off Season training ahead:)

Hey idiot boy, what has a stupid, ignorant family in INDONESIA got to do with Malaysia? You Yanks are all the same - you know nothing of the outside world (Yanky ironic insult intended - thought I'd better add that as I heard the wheels slowly turning).

As for the blog posts being reduced in frequency - that surely is breach of contract and contributions to the TPPF were in return for DAILY blogs - I want my USD7.01 back!

Seriously though, you've been doing an amazing job and if something's got to give then so be it. Respect to you for keeping it up this long. It was a highlight of my day for sure although I'll too be pleased for the extra time saved by not having to watch the dodgy videos of snot and skiddies - my staff who occasionaly walk in on me watching them too will no doubt be equally relieved.

HAHAHAHAHAH - Simon hit the nail on the head.

I'm pretty sure TP failed geography lol. :)

Internet marketing? You must be very successful at what you do. I mean, you got all these people to send money to the TPPF and THEN you drop the bomb that you are reducing the number of posts. You dont by chance have an email account originating in Nigeria and have a dead relative in need of help laundering money too do you? :)

I was waiting to hear of the post-Kona party invitations flying around and put in a decent donation to cover my pulls. I'm sure glad I held out :) lol

Why make us suffer? Maybe you should cut down on beer drinking time and dedicate that to the blog??? =) Ya, probably not. Maybe multitask and write and drink at the same time?

I've been reading your blog daily for so long that it became an addiction. I can't blame you though for blogging less because I totally understand how time consuming this is. For me, too, your blog was the first one I stumbled on and it introduced me to a whole new world. I made new friends through it and it motivated me many times during my journey to finishing Ironman Lake Placid. I am sure gonna miss it tremedously!!

On the bright side, I plan to give up on drinking coffee so reading your blog less will help. And also Miha will be pleased that in the morning I'll spend more time with her :0)

Sad to read about it but you must do what's best for you.

I'm sure the readers will soon get used to the twice a week or once a week blog post.

Must say you entertained me daily and I also learned and got motivated a lot by your post.

I will miss your daily blogs, but I have been expecting it to come. I had a feeling once you completed Kona, that you may decide to refocus your energies and as a result the daily blog may move down the priority list. I completely understand and thanks for all the entertainment, inspiration and information on your Triathlon journey. It was a great ride for me. Later, Bob.

T, thanks for support.

MFI, haha

M, you know JUST to get you in trouble it's probably worth continuing. haha. PFG story will be coming. Just need to pick the right time to write it, it will be a longer post.

D, Thanks for the works, you too have inspired and continue to inspire me. Yeah I'm starting to get pumped about NYC

S, DURRRR....of course I knew it was Indonesia, the reason I said Malaysia was because I know your society ASPIRES to be as good as Indonesia. haha. True about the breach and now I feel compelled at least to post questionable video. haha.

JP, did you get your invite, oh damn, I just noticed you weren't on the contributors list. haha

R, not a bad idea. haha

D, thanks for supporting what ever I do and good luck on the no coffee, although I don't know what's wrong with drinking coffee, it's terrific after a night of debautchery. haha.

J, thanks and ditto about your blog.

B, thanks bro.
