My bank account went down today. When I got to work my Zoot Ultra TT 2.0 shoes and cigars arrived from the States. And at the end of the day I went to the fracture clinic and beforehand I picked up more water bottles and a flashing safety light for when I ride. I keep losing water bottles on my rides, they pop out of the cage holders behind my seat when I go over major bumps. I also lost my flashing light that I put on my bike and I wanted to get a new one, it makes me feel safer when ride.
I went to the fracture clinic at the end of day. I thought it was going to be a waste of time because my heel hasn't bothered me in about a month. They took x-rays of my heel and told me there wasn't a stress fracture on my heal. I mentioned to the doctor that the ball of my foot has been bothering me for months. He sent me back for more x-rays and thinks I have a fracture on the bones right behind my big toe. He understood that I'm in the middle of my racing season and not running for 6 weeks to let it heal is not an option. He gave me a month's prescription for anti-inflammatories and told me to come back in a month. My plan is to get through this years race season and then take some healing time off between November and January.
I've also decided to sign up for Ironman Lake Placid. It a very popular race and usually fills up at the race site registration and doesn't go online for general entry. So this weekend, I'm going to make the 7 hour drive to Lake Placid and register on site, the Monday morning after the race. I'm going to bring my bike along and do Saturday's long ride on the course and do my long run on the course on Sunday, if I'm allowed. I think I may also volunteer. I've never volunteered before and I think it would be interesting to see the race from a volunteers perspective.

Hi B
nice buy, need to give a report on those shoes. Would be interesting to hear how other people experience them. Have you ever thought of replacing your water bottle holders( just a thought), maybe that will solve the problem of loosing bottles. Enjoy the trip to Lake Placid

Sorry forgot to add, I have Zipp waterbottle holders and it keeps the bottles secure. I haven't lost bottles. A Friend have the XLAB Gorilla grip water bottle holders and he also don't have issues with losing bottles. It also depends on the angle of the rear hydration system. Mine is straight and are not hanging backwards. This can also be a problem if the hydration system is at a scew angle with the bottles facing backwards
Hope that helps

Thanks J, it is.
hey bry am well familiar with IMLP, have ridden parts of the course and other awesome rides nearby. I have also volunteered. I am not sure where you will need to go to volunteer on the fly, but let me know if you're looking for any info. I have not ridden the full course as frankly parts of it scare the crap out of me. I am pretty cautious though. Mirror Lake is a nice place to swim, also be sure to spend some time downtown. It is a real festival there with all the triathletes.
Where are you lodging? everything in the area will be full.
bummed, because we'd be there this weekend for our annual riding and fun and could meet, but not this time around @ 30 wks pregnant.
also if you can stay there is a sprint on monday evening which is super low key, put on by high peaks cyclery shop, also a great place to visit.
T, now I'm convinced it's the race for me. I like the Athlete Festival thing. It is a bummer that your not going to be there, I'd love to meet you. I'll look into that race, although I doubt I'll do it because it's a 7 hour ride and I need to be back for work the next day. Are you going to be there next year?
I sure hope so, it is a real highlight of my summer, and well, I guess if you are racing we'd have another good reason to go!
I got it, so I'll you you there next year.
