Time to tighten the belt...

I wasn't this busy at work when I owned the place. Lots of account management, tying up loose ends and transitional stuff

Near the end of the day, I reviewed my MAO training program. I don't know what it is, but every year the sessions seem to get longer. I was tired just looking at the program and putting it into my calendar.

I'm not worried about being ready for IMLP, there is many epic weekends ahead. Compared to the training, IMLP will seem like a rest day.

I've only been off from training for 9 days and it seems like a lifetime. I was going to start today, but I wasn't motivated to ride in cool temperatures and more importantly, I was too busy at work. I didn't have the right frame of mind to get started.

Today's focus was work. There's lots to do and I want to make sure it's done right. I sold two business units, and the guys I sold to are "good" guys. I want to make sure they both get a good return on their investments.

I still don't feel or act like I sold the place. I wonder when it will hit me?

Tomorrow is the start day of my training. I'm looking forward to getting back at it. Training brings a level of bliss. I have time to contemplate, reflect and think. Right now, with all the stuff I've had to deal with, my mind is in overdrive and fuzzy. It needs to be slowed down to clarity.

I'm convinced that training and doing Ironmans make me more level headed and productive. I told Alice tonight that I'm craving to get back to training. It brings a balanced routine and pace to my life.

If I had the time, I'd take a holiday, just to decompress. Unfortunately, I can't. To much transition stuff to do in the short term. Actually, training is just as good as a holiday, maybe better and definitely cheaper.

My buddy, Al Nolan, who regularly reads the blog, gave me some good advice today. I'm going to take it. Thanks Al.

This morning Reid had Alice make a new hole in his belt. He's losing inches and his belt was too loose. He's drank the "swim club" kool-aid and he seems to be feeling good about his progress. I read the supportive blog messages to him every morning and he loves them.

To me, the best are the "torture ones". My favourite was from Matty O who said, "unfortunately his push ups don't count...gotta get the boobs on the floor to count them, feel the burn buddy!"

He's in full swing. Yesterday, he did a 2.5 hour swim session and a 20 minute run. After swimming, all I hear from him is, "I'm hungry, what's there to eat, I'm hungry, I need food, I'm hungry, blah, blah, blah".

For the first time ever, he's asked "what does a Powerbar taste like". I have the protein ones that taste like chocolate bars. Now he's eating them. I know what's going to happen, one day I'm going to go for a long ride and they'll all be gone and I'll be "pissed".

This swim club bet may have cost me more than I thought. I could end up losing $1000 and even more on extra groceries.

Reid you're awesome dude, I can't even do one lap backstroke without crashing. You're looking meaner and leaner and I reckon it won't be long before you're kicking your old man's butt in the pool. Keep it up buddy, I'm getting a buzz off seeing your progress and it looks like you are too.

Way to go Reid, I can't even swim backstroke. I agree with Simon, you will soon out swim your Dad.

I can understand hiding the liquor or chocolate from your kids... but the POWER BARS?!?! haha. Too funny.

I can't eat those things, tear my stomach up. Does he take any protein shakes or recovery drinks?! Might help him with his soreness you mentioned the other day.

Properly fueling 2 athletes in one house is not cheap ;)

Nice job so far Reid! I can really see the progress, he must be thrilled.

B, did you install the stripper pole in your house yet so you can start training for your new career? ;-)

Good on you Reid, looking good in that pool!
RE: Powerbars, they may be deducted of the final $1000 payment if they start to become an issue 3 bucks a pop sound about right?

C, I passed that alone, big smile from him.

S, I passed it on, another big smile and "burn" from him to me.

J, I passed it on, now you guys are creating a monster. (Thanks on the IM training, it's feeling good).

M, another monster making comment.

M, that it funny. I don't mind if he eats the powerbars, so long as he stays away from my beer and cigars. I guess he probably take that up in High School.

A, I passed it on, now Reid can't walk through door frames without bumping his large ego sized head. haha. Yes, pole is in, actually I have to poles. One for training and one for competition. haha.

JAM, I hear yah. Consider it done.

V, passed along and big smile on 13 year olds face. I figure if I charged him $3 a pop for the powerbars, he may owe me money after the bet is over. I like the way you think!!!!
