It's been a great long weekend. I've been consuming a lot of calories and because I took Friday and Sunday off I've felt a little guilty. The only time I've taken two day's off in one week is after doing races. So the minute I woke up, I put my cycling shorts on and got on the bike for my 2 1/2 hour ride. About an hour into it I was thinking that I can hardly wait until it is over. Then 90 minutes into it I got a phone call from Hans Winkler, an old friend from Winnipeg. I put him on speaker phone and we talked while I trained. Before I knew it an hour went by and I was finished. Afterwards, I had a good stretch, showered and the Alice, Alyssa, Reid and I went for a car ride in the escarpment. It was only 1 C but I saw a lot of cyclists out on the road and I was a little envious. Next time it's 1 C or more I'm going for an outside ride. I'm also really looking forward to seeing how my new bike rides outside. I can't tell you how much I love this bike, it looks great and it feels and runs even better. It's a bike that I'm not sure that ever want to ride in the rain, which is unrealistic, but that's how much I like it. I was also going to swim and do weights tonight but found out that because of today's provincial holiday the Y closed at 5 pm and I didn't want to cut into the family time. I guess tomorrow with be a triathlon and weights for training. For the rest of the day my legs had a twang to them. It wasn't a sore feeling but it was a workout feeling. It felt like I did something and it felt like like it was a good and necessary workout, not just a mental strength builder.
Long bike - 2:30:45 / 44.70 / 17.79 pace.
