It's a wet day...

It was raining all day. I'm so glad I didn't have to run or bike today and only had a swim session. Friday swims are the toughest because I'm not a morning person and like to train at night and training on a Friday night is a little strange. It's great because most people have a life and aren't swimming on a Friday night so I get the lanes to myself. But it's strange because deep down I'd rather do weekend stuff like having some beers.

There was no way I could miss this workout because I didn't do my Monday workout. My first 100 of the tempo swim was at 1:36 and I thought, WOW, I didn't miss a beat and I'm actually faster after missing a workout. Then reality set in about 1000 meters later and my shoulder was a little sore and I was struggling to do a 1:50. The girl in the lane beside me was a good swimmer and when we were swimming side by side it gave me a little extra motivation to try harder and I was able to edge her out and have faster times. But when she wasn't there beside me it was hard to push myself as hard.

The best thing about swimming is finishing. I'm an average swimmer and haven't really gotten much faster no matter how much I swim. I figure I'm not going to worry about swimming until my biking and running is so good that if I had a faster swim I'd win races. If I ever got to that stage then I'd definitely have an internal drive to do better in the water.  After swimming I met up with Alice and Reid and we went to the movie "Adventure Land". It was an okay movie. Sitting beside Reid is fun. He hates it when I steal his drink after mine is gone.

It's still raining outside. I don't care if it rains tomorrow because I only have a run and I don't mind the rain. But on Sunday I hope it's dry for my long ride. It's never fun riding in the rain, especially with a new bike that I want to keep in pristine condition as long as possible.
