I officially ended my off season training today and began my race training. My first race is in 14 weeks. It's going to be a challenge to put in the mileage this week with my Vegas trip. For the first half of the trip it is all business and then the second half is going to be all play. Alice is going to join me on Wednesday.
When I woke up I felt like doing my long ride but decided to wait until the end of the day when I'm fully hydrated. I got on the bike at 7:30 and had a nice easy ride. It was only a 2.5 hour ride which is one of the shortest I'll have for a long time. The only concern I have is that my biking speed seems slow. This is the first year I've ever had a speedometer and know my speed and cadence. I don't know if it is the same speed I was going last year or not. I did take it easy because I didn't want to put to much pressure on my calf. I've also noticed that in the past couple of weeks it seems like I'm losing strength. It makes no sense to me because I have still been training consistently since the season ended. Even after yesterday's run my legs were a little tired and it was only a 90 minute run.
