Bryan...you are the best!!!! Really, you will do it next time...now, please, take some rest and remember my March's month quote: ""TIMELY WITHDRAWAL IS A VICTORY" NAPOLEON BONAPARTE"

Cheers from Hong Kong...and try to rest...if you don't recover visit Ironman doctor!

I think Steve bemmet also retired...and this IM might be so tough due to extremely hgh humidity!!!

Bryan, this is not the war, but just a battle. Pulling out from it in the situation you were was the smartest decision, and you need guts to do so. Take care, and you'll get your spot next time.

Tough break but you made the best decision. Go find a doctor, your kidney situation doesn't sound good and please keep us posted.

Live to fight another day B! Sorry your day didn't play out the way we all wanted it to for you. Here's what I know: 1. You're too driven to give up on your Kona spot and 2. The Lake Placid course won't know what hit it when you're finished with it! Chin up, keep training, get your Kona spot. M

???
Well, according to the IM website you came first in your age group...

Sorry to hear the bad news, but you did the right thing with bad kidneys.

B - if you can, call the Canadian Embassy in Bejing and get their advice as to where to go for medical help.

Look after yourself to race another day.

It take guts to call it day. You did the right thing. Don't feel bad, there is always the next one.
Find a doctor, don't wait. It is probably nothing, but don't take a chance.

B. there were lots of people who did not finish the race, including the 2007 World Champion – Chris McCormack. I just checked the Athlete Tracker page and out of 28 Pros 10 did not finish the race. That’s more than one third so I guess some of them got food poisoned, too. That’s just bad luck and there was nothing you could do about it.
This was just a bump in the road. On the bright side, it will make your “Road to Kona” book even more interesting. There’s the Lake Placid race in less than 6 months and on July 25th we’ll both celebrate your qualification to Kona and my first Ironman finish.
Just take care of yourself, get well and get home safe.

Bryan...courageous effort out there. It doesn't always go the way we want..but u were ballsy for sticking it out as long as you did.

Just take care of yourself now and bounce back for your next outing...

Well done Bryan. I've only been reading your blog for a couple of months now but it seems that you did everything right. It was the stuff that you couldn't control that caused the 'issues'.

So kill those beers and celebrate being a hero

Denis

p.s. - lots of fake beer in China :)
