A little less rough Saturday...except for the workout

Last night Alice and I went to a 40th birthday party in the Italian area of Toronto.

I had a great time, lots of beer, food, cake and dancing. It is a good thing Alice only had a couple of drinks, she was able to get me home by 1:17 am, or it could have been a repeat of last week.

Although it wasn't that far off.

When I start "kissing" people it is usually a sign that I've had a little to much to drink!

I woke up early, as Reid had a playoff game at 8:00 am. They won 2 - 0.

I was still feeling some of the effects of the night before and the Tim Horton's coffee and bagel started to help bring me back to normal.

When I got home I went to bed for a few more hours, then picked up a healthy burger and fries for lunch, before starting my Saturday super workout sessions.

I started at 2:10 pm and was finished by 7:16 pm.

I did a 3 hour bike ride and a 3000 meter swim that took me 70 minutes. In between the two workouts I did my regular stretching session.

It dawned on me that I probably spend more time stretching in a week than most people do working out. On average, in a week, I figure I stretch 1.5 to 2 hours.

After every run or bike, I stretch for around 15 minutes.

On today's bike ride I lost over 5 lbs of water, even though I drank 64 ounces while riding. Then after the bike, I drank back the 5 lbs and then some, plus my protein shake.

Right after the bike and my stretching session, I drove to the pool. The swim was tough. The water was making me sick. I was so water logged and the water in the pool was causing me to O.D. on water.

I was also physically tired and at points during the swim, I closed my eyes and had mini sleeps.

It turns out that the Burlington YMCA pool is in yards, not meters. The 4000 meter swim I did this week was actually 4000 yards.

The bummer is that I thought my swimming was improving to 1:48 - 1:55 per 100 meters. It turns out I'm really at around 2:00 - 2:10 per 100 meters. It was an ego let down.

To refuel after the training was over, Alice, Reid and I went to Shoeless Joe's. I had a craving for pasta and apple pie and ice cream. It hit the spot.

Another Super Saturday in the record books!
