Long speed swim...

Today was a 3000 meter speed swim workout, followed by lifting weights.

It took me an hour and a half to do the swim workout.

The lap swim was only open for an hour, but I was able to swim around the next group session to get in the last half hour.

Other than Tuesday evenings, there is no pools in the area open for more than an hour at night. I think I'll have no choice but to start swimming in the morning, especially now that most of my swims are over 3000 meters.

The problem is that I'm just not a morning person.

On a positive note, one of my drills was 20 x 100 meters. For each of the 100 meters I was swimming as low as 1:40 and as high as 1:55. Not bad considering that my triathlon races were at around 2:25 per 100 meters.

The weights session was good. I can really see and feel the differences in my body since I started this program.

I've also noticed that my legs are constantly twitching. I can feel the muscles firing and rebuilding. This has been going on for weeks.

Today I also went out to lunch with a customer I haven't seen in about 6 months.

He couldn't believe how different and fit I looked. He is at least the 10th person in the past couple of months that has told me that. I never get sick of hearing it!

My body is starting to feel a little bit better after last weeks travel, but I did end up getting a cold sore yesterday.

On the way home from the pool, I realized that this training is now just part of my lifestyle... and it feels good!
