That was one big fish...

The one thing about not eating any chocolate, candy, junk food, or any foods past 8 pm, is that you tend to eat a LOT of the good stuff when you are allowed to eat.

For example, we were invited to my buddy Al's house, we call it the Nolan estate. I feel sorry for his kids if they have to shovel that driveway. Alice, Reid and I went there for dinner last night and his wife Julia made a great salmon dinner.

Well, they must have thought I haven't eaten in a week, maybe even a month. Julia made 4 large Salmon fillets about 12 inches long and I'm not lying when I say I think I ate one whole fillet myself. Not to mention the two plates of rice and all the fresh fruit appetizers. However, I did have some Iron-will. I was tempted by Al and his boys when they started taunting me and waving a Heineken in front of my face, I resisted the urge and had no beer last night. I think Al was surprised with my commitment. I don't think he's ever seen me pass up a beer. Actually, I don't think I've ever seen myself pass up a beer either.

After dinner we all sat in the living room and watched an episode of Mantracker. Al and his two boys, Michael and Kevin, are lovers of the show. During the commercials it was strategy discussion time. We each had ideas of what we would do if we were on the show and bounced them off each other. With John Barclay and I applying to be on the show, it has created a real sense of excitement among our friends. Everyone wants to see us on the show.

Today was an easy day, no training. Two days of taking high powered anti-inflammatories has helped my Achilles feel better. I could walk without any trouble today and I'll give it a short 30 minute test run on Tuesday. The only side effect is that I'm a little bloated. It was also nice being able to have a Sunday afternoon nap before John Barclay came over to re-shoot our Mantracker Audition Video.

Earlier this week I had a gut feel that we should submit a new video and talked with John about it. I wasn't happy with the first one and knew we could do better. I wanted to do one that was more natural and showed our personalities a little more, without having to edit scenes together. I wanted it to be live, one take. And I wanted to have us explain in a little more detail why we think it would be an entertaining show if they chose us. We shot it around 7:30 pm and by 10 pm it was emailed to Mantracker's office. We like this one much better and found the perfect music, especially since it's filming in Hawaii.

Rest & Taper Day - No training.
