There will be no greater motivation to qualify for Kona than having Alyssa experience it first hand. My only regret, is that she couldn't come this year.
The good news is she's been "kicking ass" at University, she just got back a couple of mid-term marks and one was a 92% and the other was 89% and the class average was 67%. Good job Alyssa.
Today was the last day and we tried to make the most of it. Reid got his diving certification and I got my tattoo. It turns out that Reid got FULLY certified. There is two levels, one where you are certified to dive but need to be with a Master Instructor and the other is "you are the man" and can do it all without an instructor and go as low at 130 feet.
The instructor said Reid was a natural and if he thought there was any problems he wouldn't have given Reid full certification. Good job Reid.
The rest of the afternoon was spent "packing". We extended the room an extra night and I'm glad we did. It took me close to 3 hours to pack all my "new" and "extensive" Ironman World Championships wardrobe, and bike. I'm amazed I got it all to fit.
Before we left, I shot a video which I've included below. (If you don't see it, that means we had to leave for the airport and our slow Internet connection didn't work and you'll need to check back). Thanks to all the blog and twitter followers for sending me their energy and karma, I don't thing we could have had a better time in Kona.
Now it's going to be back to reality and I've already got my next adventure semi-planned in my mind. I'm glad Reid likes diving, I'll have to pick events that are near an ocean so I can "bribe" him to come for the diving.
I can hardly wait to get home to "stop eating and drinking". What the don't tell you is doing Ironman Kona is very "fattening".

I can't wait for your return and the inevitable and epic Ironman Kona welcome home party!
And what is the new tattoo?
Wow I can't believe it's over! Sounds like the trip of a lifetime f you ask me. I'll definitely be putting my name into the lottery from now on. NOT!!!
Welcome home! When's the party?
Great Tat! Love it
Way to go Alyssa, solid showing! If there is one thing I wish I could re-do would be my college effort...instead of just "getting by" if I could do it over I would apply myself differently.
Reid- only a few more years before you can plant yourself in Hawaii?!
Great race and trip B..thanks for including us:)
D

And CONGRATS to Alice for just putting up with you in general. hahahhah
Welcome home my friend!
Congrats again!! Love the tat, good on Reid for his diving and flying skills. I think it's a great idea for you to incorporate family destination activities with Ironman, especially knowing how integral family support is to IM success.
Our daylight keeps dwindling something fierce and I'll be turning to your blog for inspiration getting my a$$ out the door in the dark, so keep on motivating the web!
Nice video and tat! It's been a great following your journey.
Oops - I had missed the video. Nice tat.

A, It was an awesome trip, great idea putting your name in the lottery, its amazing. Party details to follow. haha.
D, Thanks. Funny, I was a straight 50% student, I'm lucky, I hated school so much I don't have any regrets or would want to go back and do it differently. haha. Thanks for the props to Alyssa, I'll pass them on.
M, thanks. No worries, I'm glad you enjoyed following the journey.
T, thanks and yes, back to reality with the rest of you smucks. Couldn't have said it better myself. haha

L, thanks, but I have NOTHING to do with it other than to set an example of what not to do. My son is now calling me "McFLY". hahaha. All the credit goes to Alice for raising the three of us. haha.
