The thing that makes it a little challenging is it's a work day and not a weekend and I have to squeeze in the training and work all in the same day. I wasn't able train in the morning because I was at an Oakville Chamber of Commerce breakfast meeting, which meant I had to fit it all in after work and before it got dark at 9 pm.
I worked through lunch and left at 3:30 pm and went to the pool for my swim and water running. I tried running with the life jacket but found it was difficult to get my heart rate up. I ended up taking it off and just running without any floatation devices.
When I got home I used my new $35 barbecue to cook up some burgers and was on my bike by 6:30 pm for my 2.5 hour ride. I took an easier route and didn't push it to hard, I didn't want to do any additional injury to my ankle. As it got darker I started to eat a lot of bugs. I didn't need any energy bars tonight, the bugs I was eating were giving me all the energy I needed.
About 10 minutes from home, and 10 minutes away from sunset, I looked down, took my eyes off the road and got disorientated. When I lifted my head I was startled because I thought something was running at me. It turned out it was a rhubarb plant and my mind was playing tricks on me.
At that point, I just wanted to get home, stretch, update the blog with a beer at my side, have a shower, turn on the patio heater and sit outside and have some beers. That was the vision I kept in my mind as a reward for my long bike. Now everything is done other than the shower and sitting outside and that will happen shortly.
I love when a plan comes together.
