Baby steps...

After 16 weeks of training, I'm only 6 days away from my first triathlon of the year. My biggest concern is whether I'll be able to do the run on my bad heel. I've been resting it for the past 9 days and have only done water running. Today I decided to do a short, moderate speed run, to see if it is any better.

Although there was a minor discomfort, I was able to run through it by adjusting my running style to land more on the balls of me feet. I was scheduled only to do 30 minutes. I was feeling good and was debating if I should do a full hour. I decided to "be safe, rather than sorry" and only did an extra 5 minutes. When I finished, I had a good stretching session and iced it.

Johan Stemmet of South Africa was asking me what is in my morning protein shake because it looks good. Which it is. Here is the recipe.

Blend all these items together
1 scoop of vanilla whey (make sure it's the type that tastes good on it's own - I go to Costco)
1 banana
1 cup of frozen mixed berries
1 large glass of water

Can also add
3 tbsp of Coconut Oil
Flax seed
You can also add any fresh fruits, I've had pineapple, raspberries, strawberry's, etc).

Mod Run - 39:55 / 5.05 miles / 7:54 pace / 136 avg hr.
