There's nothing like running or biking outside when it's warm and humid. It feels like the air is alive and giving you a big hug.
It was a busy day. I was almost the last person to leave work today, which is unusual. My desk is near the exit and everyone was stopping by to see if I was okay and wanting to know if Alice kicked me out of the house.
It's always good to keep everyone on their toes. When they think I'm going to zig, I feel compelled to zag.
I ended up postponing my swim until tomorrow and spent most of the evening on my bike doing speed work. I am feeling so good and strong on my bike right now. It's amazing what 72 hours off the "barley juice" will do for you. I pushed "hard" and I don't think I got over 152 bpm, it just wasn't possible tonight.
During my ride I listened to the new IMTalk podcast. It came out this morning. I heard a semi-familiar voice, it was me. I was being interviewed about my my new online triathlon website. They think it is very cool and wanted to talk to me, one of their new sponsors, about it.
Tomorrow is the day that the site will be ready to go live. It's only taken close to 11 months. My plan is to make the official announcement over the blog, giving out the website address, and asking everyone to tear it apart and send your suggestions. Oh, and open up the wallet and buy stuff from it as well.
There is only 16 days left until IMLP, I can hardly wait for the "Suffer-fest" to begin, AND end. I'm looking forward to two things. The first is the beers the next day. I'm going to set up at a bar or restaurant outdoor patio and have an informal Training Payne post race bash. For those that may want to attend, there is a qualification process, you must have "a pulse".
The second thing I'm looking forward to is a mini family vacation afterwards. We're hooking up with Grant's and both our families are going to go white water rafting and horseback riding together. The rafting is level 3 rapids and the river is 17 miles long. It takes about 4 hours to ride.
On another note, I'm a little depressed about the Tour du France. Normally, they show it live in the morning and then repeat it in the evening. This year there's no evening telecast and now I've missed three stages.
I think I need to go and get a PVR from the cable company to record them, even if I only rent it for 30 days. Or I could pull off the technique my mom used when we were kids. She'd buy a video camera and return it after our family vacation. Sears was her store of choice.
Yesterday on the Tour it sounded like an exciting day and I missed it. Which is completely unacceptable behaviour.
I also noticed that in the first 7 days of this month I've already done 409 kms of training. It doesn't feel like I've done much and it's definitely a confidence booster leading up to Lake Placid.

Looking forward to seeing the new website. Awesome start to the month on your training as well.
B, just listen to the IM Talk episode with you. Love the whole Triathlontoons concept and the website is great. I'm going to make sure my wife gets the hint for my Louisville Ironman what I want, head, body and prop. I was wondering can you do cusotmized tri suits with your toon? Later, Bob.
White water rafting. This is one thing I recommend NOT doing intoxicated. We went last year with some of my buddies. We launched one girl 8 feet out of the boat (it looked awesome) and lost her to another boat down stream and then my buddy was trying to pull us off a rock and we ran him over with the boat!!! HAHA
Its honestly a blast. Our guides were in little kayaks and they thanked my group for doing the rafting tour. They said usually the trips are so boring and all the people are stiffs. They said that they never knew where our group would end up coming out of the rapids and whether we would still be in one piece at the end of the trip... oh yeah, we snuck up and dunked all of the tour guides too haha.
Should be a blast.
Cant wait for the site to launch. On the edge of my seat to see what you have up your sleeve over there. Is it a specially formulated triathlon recovery beer?!?!!?
lol@ "have a pulse" - haha
excited to see the website! you wont have to talk in code for the marketing? (flickurbick)
great news on the biking and feeling strong
-D
I'm getting the evening TdF airing on "Versus" channel. Maybe you could get something online. I know versus sells an online coverage package for $29. Don't know what you get for it. Check it out. Or check out more options at steephill.com. They seem to be good source of coverage.
I am pissed about the Tour as well! I cant believe that OLN has chosen a ridiculous ghost show over the Tour. Look forward to seeing your site??!! Sounds like a great break with the family when you are done! Wahoo! Bring it on!
Paint me jealous! I love Lake Placid, and I'd love to do IMLP.
I'd recommend the bobsled ride too. I've never gone on it, but it looks absolutely awesome!
Bryan,
In regards to the Tour De France time slot I felt your payne(no pun intended), ok maybe it was intentional. I have a PVR and it didn't work for me for the first two stages for some reason but now that I've got it working its awesome. Get one immediately, it's the only way to watch stuff like that, I watched all 3 hours last night in 1:15 and didn't miss a thing, you can filter all the crap out and get right to the good stuff.
J.
Hey TP
you could also go to vs.com and buy the package for $25 and watch it on your computer live in HD.
your website sounds cool. let me know what it is so i can go and buy something. as you bought some rocktape from me. have you used any of it?
you vacation sounds cool. we are heading to maui for a week first week in august and then im heading to san fran for a week for business after that.
i see you are training again and staying off the beer. good idea. did you see i moved my blog and am running every day for a 100 days. ive done 82 miles in 24 days so far.
im thinking i might run for some charity like spca and try and raise some money for it. any tips for me?
keep it up.
jason
Can't live without my PVR. I watch what I want, when I want and in half the time.
Checked out the website earlier today and it looks great. I'm currently try to break it but that's just the analyst in me coming out.
good mileage for pre IMLP, you;ll rock it!
K, thanks.
B, cool, let me know when she orders, I'll give you a special deal and add only 10% to the list price. haha. Unfortunately I looked into tri suits and haven't found anything yet, although it would be cool. I'll keep looking. I hope to get tri toons suits and if I do, I'll get you one as a sponsor ship, but you have to wear it doing your races and do a minimum of 6 a year. That'll keep you motivated. haha.
M, don't break my bubble, The rafting is at 9 am and I was hoping to start drinking at 7 am, just like ski trips in high school, although we needed to start drinking at 5 am. I love you ran over your friend, how funny and a good memory is that. haha. I could just see you dunking these guides, you gave them a little "Matty O" water rapids. hahaha
D, Thanks bro.
S, Thanks I'll check it out, if they allow replays all day long, I'm in.
J, Thanks man. Good training by the way, you're an animal. Oh, and I want my trainer back. haha.
C, sign up for next year, we got out of continent guest coming, it will be the best fun. I'll have to look into the bobsled and see if they do it in the summer.
J, I'm with you, I got to get one, I didn't even think of the time savings of no commercials. Thanks cous.
J, thanks, I'm checking it out. The rock tape has been a blessing, since I bought it, I guess it scared my body and I haven't had to use it. haha. But if I have to again, I'm definitely going to, although don't take this the wrong way but I hope I never have to. haha. I did see your 100 days of running. Cool. And good luck, thats a big thing, for sure you're going to need rock tape. haha. I don't have any tips other than maybe picking up the phone. hahaha.
A, I've got to get one too. Thanks about the web. Coming from a professional means a lot.
V, thanks, I hope so.
