Wipeout...

One more day and the Tour de Lance starts. I'm so excited to watch it this year.

Those years that Lance wasn't in it, I didn't find as interesting. My dream ending would be for Lance to win and humble Contador.

That may not happen, but one thing I know for sure is Lance says he'll be doing Kona in 2011. That would be a very special year to qualify, doing it the year Lance did it with full bragging rights.

On the training front, I can't believe how much faster my track work was this week over the first session two weeks ago. Two weeks ago my fastest pace was 3:41 km / 6:09 mile for 400 meter repeats, and my slowest was 4:01 km / 6:28 mile . Today, my fastest pace was 3:34 km /5:45 mile for 600 meters and my slowest was 3:42 km / 5:58 mile. I'm sure last weekends HIM helped get things kick started.

Running speed work is tough. I cope by behaving like a robot and just following the next set on my training sheet. I don't think about it, or I'll want to quit. I just play little games like 3 left, 2 left, etc. I try not to think of the next set until the current one is over. Then as I get closer to the end I try to make them my best. I really want to "feel the burn". I find finishing a hard speed work session is oh so gratifying.

This afternoon I went to the YMCA with Reid. I did weights, then swam afterwards and he swam the entire time. He spent 95 minutes in the pool and now only has one session to make up. I raced him. He was briefly ahead of me and I could see his stroke from under the water. He's a natural.

His reach and twisting is something of beauty. I've gotten better at reaching, but I'm not anywhere near his fearlessness. I'm always afraid that reaching to much when trying to go fast would be painful or slow me down.

Two days ago I got an email from Shaw ( @shawhasyj ), he's one of the cyclists I met riding this year. He said that they are taking applications for the physical game show Wipeout. He thought it would be something I should apply for. I've never even watched the show, but applied anyways.

I found out later that it is one of Alyssa's favourite shows. It's an obstacle course with all kinds of crazy challenges and you can easily get hurt. That's the hook, viewers watch the contestants "wipeout" HARD. If I got selected I'd have to fly to Argentina to film the first week of October, right after I help Bill Bradley swim the English Channel.

One last thing. I slept wearing my compression tights last night. They are so tight, my foot was in pain this morning from being choked out. All day and even now I can still feel a little irritation. Alice also can't believe I wasn't hot all night. I can't remember if I was or wasn't. It seems every time I wear them to bed I wake up with some sort of a minor injury. Not to mention I think I have an ear infection, although I can't blame the tights on that one.

Speed Run - 57:28 / 12.46 km / 4:37 avg
Weights - 30 minutes / chisel
Speed Swim - 50:46 / 2200 meter

June's Totals
Swim - 20.20 kms / 12.52 miles
Bike - 995.51 kms / 617.22 miles
Run - 150.42 km / 93.26 miles
Weights - 3 sessions
Totals - 1166.13 kms / 723.00 miles
Calories - 49,318
138

Below is a video Reid did with Nazaire. Not bad camera work and editing. It's a half decent job Reid. I think you're are ready to start shooting porn. Nazaire better not be in it.

Nice work on the track. Now that I'm healthy again, I've gotta start doing that.

Ear infection suck. Infections suck period. I'm finally over lower *and* upper GI infections. It's a quick way to lose 15lbs, but I can think of nicer ways.

I'll be living through your races for the rest of the summer now - this illness crap has ruined my season!

B, this is a great opportunity to really go for it. I imagine you telling this in your race report: So, I did 2011 Kona the year Lance gave it a shot, and I had this great swim. My T1 was perfect, and you know what? After 5 miles I got passed on the bike by Lance! I nearly drafted just for the thrill off it!
Now, that is some serious bragging rights!

Reid's video is really good! Now I know nothing about filming but I enjoyed it :) Good job Reid!

I also watch Wipeout ... or at least my husband watches it and I glance at it for time to time. I would be attentive if you were on it. Good luck!

Wipeout, they came to Cleveland and had open auditions. I had something going on and couldn't attend. You may ask what was more important that trying out on wipeout?! It was the irish festival. They bring trucks of beer up and have irish folk music. Yeah I am not irish one bit, but a lot of my buddies are, so its an annual event. I don't remember any of these events though, but people tell me I have fun.

Reid's video, pretty damn smooth editing! Is he ready for porn yet? Ehhhh I think he needs to master filming GIRLS first!

B, you need to prune your tree in your front yard, looks a little shabby.
