I had a blistering run...

Last night was another late night. I'm so glad my sister and her family left early this morning as my body couldn't take another late night. The next 3 weeks before the race I've decided I'm going to be a "choir boy" with my eating, drinking and sleeping.

I had to get up at 8 am to coach Reid's hockey team and I really didn't want to get up when the alarm rang, but I did. We ended up losing again. Now we are a perfect 0 - 12. After the game I went home and fell a sleep in my bed watching the Olympics. I needed to give my body some recovery sleep.

At 7 pm John came over to my place to do our 2 hour and 20 minute run. I still didn't feel very well, but the run had to be done. I was also still very concerned about my calf, but I was more concerned about not doing the run and hurting during the run at the Ironman.

At the beginning of the run, John and I didn't feel that good, it was tough to get going, especially after both of us had just eaten dinner. But as the run went on, we started to run strong and I could tell our pace was much better than most of our previous long runs. At one point, according to John's watch we were going as fast as 7:36. In 2 hours and 23 minutes we ended up running 15.67 miles.

The calf was sore, but manageable when I changed my running style. The only downside was that I started to get a blister with the new running style. At least I think it was because of the running style, although the socks I was wearing were not all that great either. In a way I'm glad that I got a blister now, rather than later. It at least gives me some time to let it heal and allow that area to toughen up before the Ironman.
