Running with some pain...

I've been really trying to get a full 8 hours of recovery sleep and I've been eating well since Sunday. I've noticed that I've been sweating like crazy during my sleeps, to the point where I shiver, and I've also noticed my body is starting to drop weight. Not drinking beer for the next 3 weeks will be interesting. I'm curious to see how much weight I lose. Ideally, I'd like to drop 5 - 10 lbs for the Ironman.

After Sunday's long run, a strange thing happened, my left calf started to feel better. By Tuesday I didn't even feel any pain what so ever. I was amazed. I figured that maybe, just maybe, the injury was gone. It turns out I was wrong.

I did a moderate 85 minute run after work. For the first 15 minutes of the run, I was "pain free". Then after 15 minutes the calf injury came back. It was mild at first, but got a little worse as the run went on. I also found that my quads were a little tight. I think because in the past two weeks, I've missed my Monday runs in order to aid in the injury recovery and my legs are not as strong as normal. At least that's my theory, although we did go harder than normal on our Sunday long run. After feeling slightly sore in the quad area, I was glad I was doing the Monday run. I figured with all the different injuries, all I'll do is go slower.

I also found that my blister was semi bothering me. I thought that perhaps my feet had lost some of the toughness because I've been wearing "flip flops" most of the time. Just to be safe, I figured I'd start wearing shoes and wear my runners as much as possible until the race.

My picture of the day is a poster I made for my brother in law who accepts packages in the U.S. on my behalf and then ships them to me.
