I started strong and died like a pig...

I only got 7 hours of sleep and it wasn't the best kind. My sisters family is visiting and I ended up having lots of beers and getting to bed at 4:30 am last night.

Today was my long swim, 6000 meters. I got to the Oakville YMCA and was feeling pretty good. Early in the swim I was doing 100 meter sets in 1:47 and most under 1:55. As the swim went on I was really getting hungry. Before I got to the pool all I had was a bowl of oatmeal and berries for breakfast. Near the end of the swim John showed up to do his 4000 meter long swim. By that time I was "toast". I was doing my 100's at around a 2:25 pace and my calf's were cramping from having my toes pointed for so long. The swim ended up taking 2 hours 24 minutes. I was dieing to finish. All I could dream about was getting out of the water, getting dressed and going to the canteen and getting some sports drinks and food. Which is exactly what I did.

Even after I ate and drank around 700 calories I still didn't feel that good, but I felt marginally better. I decided to do my weight training workout. The weight training session was tough, my body had not recovered from the swim. I don't ever think I've felt this terrible after a swim. But I persevered and finished the weights workout. On the drive home I was really tired and had to focus on not falling asleep. Just before I got home I stopped in at a gas station and picked up a slushy. I just had a feeling it was what I needed, which it was. After I started drinking it I started to feel MUCH better. By the time I got home, I was back to around 70%.

The only downside was that when I was walking up the front stairs of my house and tripped on one of the steps, which gave my hurt calf a big pull. It felt pretty sore afterwards.
