Today I took one more rest day just to be safe, giving my knee and calf some more time to heal. At one point I was going to go for a bike ride and then it started to rain HARD. It was not a critical workout and I didn't want to be in the rain for over 3 hours. Then I was going to do a swim, but I was waiting for Reid's new waterbed to arrive and the guy didn't show up on time and when he did, the pool wasn't open.
In one way taking a rest day worked well because I had to put Reid's waterbed together. It is a real retro style waterbed, Austin Powers would enjoy it. Reid's a retro type of kid so he loves it. At least now I can resume training without him "bugging" me to put the bed together. I used to have one when I was younger so it was a piece of cake to put together and brought back memories.
I've only got 3 weeks and 4 days left until the Ironman. I'm so close that I don't want to get injured and I don't want to miss anymore workouts. I don't think missing the last two days is a big deal, but I don't want to miss anymore. It is going to be a challenge this weekend, as I have my Sister's family coming to visit from Jacksonville and they are staying for the weekend. I'm sure one or two nights it will be partyville.
I did get the race packet from Louisville and read it from cover to cover. As I was reading it my heart rate must have went up 10 bpm and I started to sweat. For the first time I realized that I'm going to be doing an Ironman again and I don't know how it will go. I don't know if it will be relatively painless or painful. I just want to finish without "bonking" and I want to do fairly well. Receiving the package started to make this race feel "real".
