The sun, moon and stars must have been in alignment today. For the first time in a long time I didn't take a nap after dinner. Afterwards I went to the YMCA and did some weights. I felt strong, especially my legs, I did 15 reps of 450 lbs on the squat press and 80 lbs lunges on each leg, and I easily could have added weight on both exercises. When I got home I did a tempo ride on the bike and I was riding in the second toughest gear on the small chain ring and it was tough for me to get the heart rate up to 140 bpm. I could have used the toughest gear, and I did for a while, but it was making too much noise. For me, I find that the more I work the same body part without rest, believe it or not, I get stronger and faster. Sometimes I think my last name "Payne" came from my ancestors being able to handle lots of pain, or I guess it could have been because we are a pain. Humm. Either way it was a good workout.
During training I was thinking about the best purchases I've ever made in my life. Here is my current top 5.
1. Alice's Wedding Ring.
2. Snow blower
3. Thule bike rack
4. Anything Apple
5. Timex iControl which is a wrist watch remote for my iPod.
Weights - 30 minutes
Bike - 60 minutes / 20 miles
