Enjoying my old friend...

I was at the gym at 7:00 am to do my weights workout. Today was the start of the "chisel" phase. It was high reps and quick movements to exhaustion.

After work I decided to take my old bike for my 2 hour and 15 minute ride. It was a scheduled moderate ride and the heart rate was to stay under 134 bpm. My legs were a little sore from all the training, and the route I took had 3 major hills, and I mean MAJOR.

The first was Bell School line, then Sixth Line and then Appleby line. On those hills the heart rate got up to 151 bpm, but came down very quickly once I got to the tops. I ended up averaging 28.3 kph on the Trek and the bike felt superior to the Quintana Roo.

I guess that shouldn't be a surprise, as the Trek is the exact same model that Lance Armstrong used to win the 2002 Tour de France. It was the only time Trek manufactured Lance's bike as a production model.

Riding my Trek felt great. It is so light and responsive. It can go up hills like nothing and it is perfectly suited to my body. In addition, the Trek retailed at over $8000 and the Quintana Roo retails at $2500, there must be a difference just based on the price differences.

I think I'm going to sell the Quintana Roo on Ebay and use the money to maybe buy a Compu trainer, or a wet suit, or if Alice has her choice it will be landscaping.

It was good to try a "tri" bike, it showed me how good my old bike performs.
