Last night I took it easy, I had a huge Sunday roast dinner, beers and lots of chocolate cake and ice cream. Too much really. I'm sure it was more calories than I burnt all weekend!
Today it was rainy in the morning and cold all day. By the time I got home the rain stopped, but it was only 6 C with 30 km winds. You wouldn't believe that yesterday it got up to 22 C.
I bundled up with 4 layers of clothing, plus a jacket, gloves and booties to cover my shoes. I was a little nervous because my hamstring was tender yesterday. Once I got started I wasn't sure if my hamstring was still sore or if it was phantom pains.
I rode really slow and averaged 26.4 kph for 1 hour and 50 minutes. I focused on spinning over 90 rpm's for the entire ride, without exerting myself to much. My energy is low and my legs are flat, but according to my online coach, that is normal 2 weeks prior to the race. He says that will change and I'll feel better for my race, that this is all part of the peaking process. I hope he's right.
