I'm starting to understand a little bit more about "racing" and "recovery".
I thought that recovery was the ability to not get hurt and continue training, but I'm starting to realize that recovery from a race is the ability to continue to have "full" energy reserves for training.
Since the race, I've started to feel like I have an "empty chest", or a lack of energy in my chest area, essentially I feel exhausted. I'm a 4 on 10 on the exhaustion meter. I'm finding that I'm more irritable, less patient and do not have the same level of stamina in dealing with day to day things.
Tonight was my speed bike workout. It took around 75 minutes and was intense, with 28 minutes of really "hard" interval riding. I was sweating like "crazy" and it was a tough workout.
I'm glad I started at 6:15 pm, so that I have some time to rest tonight and try to get some energy back in the chest.
