Today was an early morning workout at the YMCA.
I did a 5000 meter swim and it was my fastest ever, I finished in 1 hour 48 minutes. I went hard for the entire swim.
When I got home from work, I was physically and mentally tired, more mentally. My entire body was sore from the past few days, especially my glutes. I think the biking outside is using some muscles that were not used on the wind trainer.
After a nap and dinner, I decided to go for my 75 minute run. It was to be at a moderate pace, under 134 bpm, essentially it is a recovery run. I wasn't sure how the run was going to go because my resting heart rate was high, it was around 70 bpm.
I was semi-warm outside, so I decided to wear shorts for the first time this year. Perhaps that helped because I had a great run. I ran 8.83 miles at an 8:34 pace, it was an awesome, effortless run. I also had negative splits.
I think that this may be the first sign that last Friday's first speed work session is taking effect. It was a great run, it felt good!!!
