Today was a busy day, I had a lot of running around I needed to do later in the day in order to get ready for the half Ironman in Florida.
I took my Quintana Roo into the shop with a list of 10 items that I needed them to fix. They said it won't be ready until Thursday.
I'm a little nervous about using it, as I'm not sure if the bike will be issue free on race day based on what I've experienced so far. Once I get the bike back from the shop, I have about 5 hours of training rides left, and one of the rides is a 2 hour tempo ride. I figure after that tempo ride I'll decide which bike I'm going to take with me to Florida.
I also picked up a new pair of running shoes. My old ones had 455 miles on them and I was due for a new pair. I figured I'd better get them now, so I could do some running in them before racing in them. The number one rule of racing is never to try something new during a race.
After dinner I did a 48 km bike ride in 1 hour and 40 minutes, averaging 17.84 mph. The ride felt good and easy, it was a moderate ride and my heart rate did not go over 134 bpm. I felt real strong and at moments felt optimistic about racing on my bike. I made sure I had 4 layers of clothing on during the ride to help me get ready for Florida.
The final thing I needed to do today, was go for a tan. After the ride, I went to the tanning salon and did 5 minutes on the turbo tanner. I felt like such a girlie man!
P.S. Reid just got a 1973 vintage Tony Esposito goalie mask, in original box with original receipt, off ebay. It was bought at Zellers for $6.96. The box said it was for Road or Ice Hockey. There is no way in today's environment that anyone would allow a kid to play with this plastic mask for ice hockey. The minute I bought it I got an email from a guy saying we wants to by it and double what I paid for it. We paid $50, so I said if he gives me $200 I'd sell it to him. We'll see what happens.
