My first long ride of many...

I decided to do errands with Alice this morning and do my 5 hour long ride in the afternoon.

I was on the bike by 2:00 pm and the weather wasn't all that good. As I started to ride, it started to rain for a while, then it stopped for a while, then it rained for a while, then it stopped for a while, and then it "poured" for a while and finally stopped. It was also pretty windy. For the first half of the ride I was going right into a head wind and was averaging only around 26 kph.

While I was riding I saw a big turtle on the road. I had to take a picture of it. On the ride I took a few pictures. Where I ride is very beautiful.

At the end of the ride, with 10 minutes to go, I was making a turn, saw a car coming and veered to the side. I went over the curb onto the grass and then, because my cleats are locked in, I fell over. At first I just wanted to lie there, but I jumped up quickly because I didn't want to cause alarm and have people come to my aid.

I ended up doing 141.28 kms and averaged 28.2 kph and it was all on hills. It wasn't an easy ride for me. At the 4 hour point of the ride I was getting tired, then I had a gel and started to feel much better. I was actually surprised how well I felt when I got home.

The bad news about the fall off my bike is that my camera is damaged and doesn't work. I love that camera. I hope they can fix it.
