Good enough to workout

I felt much better this morning. I could tell that the flu was starting to go away. To be safe I came home from work a little early and slept for a couple hours. After I got up and ate, I was feeling pretty good so I decided to go for a run.

It was a great run, just over an hour. I love running in the cold, especially if it is -20 C or below. It must be because of my Winnipeg roots. Today's run was interesting, it rained earlier, then froze, so there was a lot of areas where there was ice. A couple of times I almost lost my footing. My left Achilles and knee were feeling much better.

The one thing about running in Winnipeg in -20C or below is that there is no ice, just packed snow and all you hear is the silence of the air and the crunch of snow under your feet. No matter how cold it is, if you dress for it, you stay toasty warm. I typically ran later in the evening on dark country roads, just me and my thoughts. It brings back good memories just thinking about it.

For Christmas, the family is heading back to Winnipeg. I'm looking forward to some long runs in the freezing cold on the country roads. Sick eh!

After the run and a stretch I did some weights, chest and triceps. My lower body is very strong, my upper body is not so strong. My goal over the winter is to really build my upper body strength. Hopefully this will really help my swimming.
