Hard Ride...ends in a Snap

Finally feeling better. Tonsils a 9 out of 10 and getting rid of the flu a 7 out of 10.

I slept for a while after work, ate, then did a HARD 40 minute ride on the wind trainer. I was sweating like crazy. I didn't have my heart rate monitor on but I knew I was definitely anaerobic.

I tried something new on the bike, I tried intervals with only one leg at a time for about a minute each leg. I read about it as a workout drill in a book. Very interesting feeling. Each leg by itself seems weak and awkward. I can see why they say it is a great thing to do to help build your speed. I'm going to start making it part of my regular routine.

After a good post bike stretch, I decided to go to train with the swim club. Alice had my truck so I took her car. I'm glad I did. As I was driving the alignment on her car was so bad I thought I was going to swerve off the road. It feel like I was driving on pure ice. The steering wheel was at 90 degrees from its normal spot. It was like I was steering a boat. It was scary.

I called Alice to see if she knew about it. She too just noticed it on a short drive she had earlier in the evening, but thought it was icy conditions. It was a good thing I took it. It has a major problem that needs a fixing.

I wasn't looking forward to swimming, as I don't look forward to the swim drills (They are so complex to understand and without my glasses I can't see the chalkboard to remind me of what is next), but I pushed myself and went. When I got there and was just about to put my goggles on I noticed a major tear in the nose piece of the goggles. I couldn't believe it. The goggles are less than 5 months old and they have only been in my bag. I have no idea how they tore, especially when the plastic is so thick. I also noticed they were starting to turn yellowish. I have no ideal what that is all about.

I got in the pool anyway and tried to work with them, as the tear wasn't all the way through. They didn't work. I did 100 meters and water keep getting into my eyes. In disgust I got out of the pool and left. On a positive note, the 100 I did seemed faster than normal.

Tomorrow is an aerobic off day. I may do some weights.

As I sit here, I'm debating if I should go downstairs to shoot some pool and have a beer? or two?
