Oh my God it is cold!!!

Last night Alice and I went to Paul's hockey game and stopped by the Norvilla for a few cocktails, and then on to Rich and Sharon's house for a few more. It was Alice's birthday and a pretty tame evening, we left around 1:30am and had to walk about 1/4 mile in the cold. Man is Winnipeg cold!!!! We ran as fast as we could to get back to my parents home to minimize the pain.

I had a great sleep and woke up at noon and then went to Chief Peguis Gym to ride the bike for 70 minutes. When I got home Aaron and Reid wanted to go to Bronx to play some outdoor shinny, so off we went. We met up with my brother Barret and his son Neil when we got there.

We ended up playing for around 2 hours. It was a great workout and a lot of fun. Even though it is - 16 C you don't even feel it.

I love outdoor shinny. Nobody who plays knows each other, teams are made on the fly, you can have as many people on the ice as show up, and people are constantly coming and going, it is always tough to remember who is on your team, no equipment and no raising the puck. The guys out there are from all skill and age levels, we had a couple of old timers that haven't played for years, some new kids that just started and some AAA Junior players, as well as everything in between. And it all works!

After yesterdays heavy duty leg weight workout and run, today's bike ride, and 2 hours of hockey, my legs feel like I just finished an Ironman. Seriously. I'm glad tomorrow is going to be a light day. My legs need rest. The legs are tired but they feel like what I'm doing is a good thing for my endurance in the long run.

My upper back, around the shoulder blades is sore from all the hockey and the cold weather. I'm always shivering. We went out for dinner tonight and when we left the restaurant it was so cold, it took about 15 minutes for the car to warm up and by then we just pulled into the driveway at my parent home.

I forgot how COLD Winnipeg is in the Winter. It's been a while since I've seen car exhaust. It's definitely something I don't miss.
