Testing out my new Desoto's...

I overslept this morning, I was tired last night and slept for 9 hours. I had to rush just to get to work on time.

Today my new DeSoto triathlon shorts and shirt arrived. They fit perfectly. I decided to try the shorts out tonight on my 85 minute run. The bottom line is they felt great. They hug my quads really well and actually feel like they are giving me added support and spring in my step.

I ended up running 10.35 miles at a 8:11 pace under 134 bpm. The last half of the run was faster than the first half. The weather was not too great, it was cool with drizzle.

After the run I went to the YMCA to lift weights. I was able to push about 80% of the weight I usually do for my upper body. I probably could have done more, but I didn't want to increase the risk of causing more damage to my chest.

This morning I woke up with a sore right buttocks, I'm assuming it was from my bike ride. Then later in the day my right hamstring was bothering me. During the weight session the hamstring was fine but the buttock started to hurt more. I had to stop doing my lunges because my buttocks was hurting and lost all its strength. It was near collapse.

When I got home I took some protein, applied cream to my buttocks and chest and took an Advil. Before bed I'm going to apply some ice. Also, when I got home, Reid was outside, he went for a run and yesterday he was working out on the elliptical. I wonder what's motivating him to workout?

I think I need to lower the intensity of my training. Coming off 18 weeks of solid training and a good race performance, my body is probably a little tired. I think slowing down the training pace and adding the weight training will help strengthen my muscles and minimize chances for injury.
