I was at the pool before work and did a 2000 meter swim. For most of the swim I did it breathing out one side. I was testing to see if I could get more oxygen and swim faster breathing out one side only. I noticed that in the Olympic trials, the swimmers were breathing out one side. I did pretty good, I was swimming 100 meters at around 1:45.
After dinner I did a speed bike workout and got my heart rate up higher than I normally do on the bike. I got it as high as 160 bpm. At times I was cruising at 42 - 46 kph on the flats. I was going as hard as I could on the most hilliest section of road that I ride.
I had a good stretch afterwards and am trying not to snack on any junk food. I find that I've been really hungry lately and I haven't been eating the most healthiest foods. The last thing I want to do is carry a few extra pounds into this weekends race.
In terms of training totals, last week, between swimming, biking and running, I did a record 246 miles for the week.
