Tonight was my longest swim to date, 6,000 meters in 2 hours 20 minutes and 36 seconds. I started at 7:00 pm and finished just before the pool closed at 9:30 pm. I'm pretty sure the lifeguards thought I was nuts.
The swim was fairly tough, not because of the distance, but because my arms and chest were sore from yesterday's power weight lifting session. As a matter of fact, all day my entire body was sore, especially my glutes. My swim was slow and I'm not sure if it was from the weights or that I'm just not as strong in the water as I was, although I think it is the weights. At times, my left shoulder and pectoral muscle was starting to get sore, so I didn't want to push it too hard.
When I got out of the water, my hands looked "prune like", I thought I was looking at the hands of an 80 year old man. But, overall I'm happy, I did my longest swim ever and I felt pretty good afterwards.
This was one Friday that I did my body good!
