I slept 9 hours last night. I was so tired I couldn't get up early to lift weights. I ended up sleeping in and doing the weights at lunch time.
After dinner I had a speed run session, it took an hour. It was the first time I've run since last Saturday when I did a 30 minute brick run. I didn't run for the past week because I wanted to rest my knee. I wasn't looking forward to the speed session because they hurt. I was trying to get a hold of John all day, with no avail, because it is always easier to do the intervals with someone else.
During the early part of the intervals, the area above my Achilles and below my calf started to hurt. It started as a 1 on 10 and on the last interval I went as hard as I could and it moved to a 7 on 10. After the intervals I couldn't even do a 10 minute warm down because it was so sore. I ended up stretching and going home to ice it.
This really "sucks". My knee was fine, but now I've got another injury, which could be much worse. I think it happened because I normally run 35 miles per week and then for a week I didn't run and it lost some of it's strength. Or maybe I should have just did an hour jog instead of a speed workout. I'm icing, taking Advil and Pennsaid. I have a long run on Sunday and I really hope it is okay to run on. I just need to keep healthy for 4 more weeks, then I can take a break and let my body recover.
