Speed work without a speedometer...

My training for the day was a speed work session on the bike. I had a late work related meeting, so I didn't get out on the road until 7:30 pm, which is cutting it close, as the sun is starting to go down. It took me just over 85 minutes to finish and it was intense. I was determined to go all out and I went as hard as I could, the heart rate got into the 160's.

I decided to go up Spring Ridge Hill for one of my 6 minute intervals. The hill is extremely steep, at least an 11% grade, and took me about 3 minutes to climb. For the first half, I was doing well, for the second steeper half, I was really pushing and hurting.

My gears still aren't working perfectly and now my speedometer broke. I sure "hate" this bike, even though I've had my best times on it. I'm also starting to watch what I eat, with all the partying we've been doing, I haven't been eating well and have gained some weight. I'm now around 181 lbs, the day before I was 183 lbs, and a week ago I was 177 lbs. It just shows that diet is more important than exercise to maintain or lose weight.
