I left it all on the road...

Today at lunch time I did my Power weight training session. I went hard and worked up quite a sweat. I typically only leave about 25 seconds between sets, whereas the other guys seem to leave a minute or two, that's why I sweat. It was a good workout and I've really noticed my strength improvement since I started in January. Every part of my body is much stronger. It feels like I'm going back in time, I feel like I'm in my late 20's, early 30's.

After work I did a speed bike session. It took me 1 hour and 21 minutes and it was the hardest I've ever went on the bike for a speed work session. At times I was going 39 - 40 kph into the wind. I had 2 - 12 minute time trial intervals and my mouth was as dry as a bone and my arms felt like they had "pins and needles". With a cross wind I was winding it up to 43 - 46 kph and on some slight down hills I was going as fast as 60 kph. I was given er. My guts were coming out and for the first time on the bike my lungs were hurting. Even an hour after the bike ride I could feel it in my lungs. I was trying to get it up to the speeds of a Tour de France rider, I wanted to feel what their speeds felt like. They hurt!

I've put my running on hold for a week after discussing it with my coach Mark Allen, so I guess I wanted to get the most out of this workout. The only other thing I thought may have made it harder was that I had a McDonald's hamburger and two McFlurries before I trained. It was my dinner.
